I am actually sad I picked this book. It wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. I imagined more of a storyline with her and her crazy mother and how life was with her trying to deal with that. I mean,it was all good that her aunt saved her and what not but I kind of just thought it was boring. Is that bad? I wanted to know more about her dad and his new life. Did he have kids with that other woman, was he working, why did he move to a different state? I feel like the author started a bunch of small little storylines and just scratched the surface as opposed to picking one or two main issues and really getting into them and creating a story aroung them. I never really got emotionally connected with any of the characters. I would probably only give this 2 our of 5 stars.
I'm with Nat. I was really into it for the first couple of chapters, but found the rest of it implausible. Apparently I have an issue with books not being believable. They really annoy me. Was her Aunt really that nice? Was Dixie really instantly her friend like that? Did the bad guy from the beach really just neatly go to jail without any effort on their part and stop being an issue? Am I the only one whose world does not go this smoothly???? Also, I could not keep track of all of the old garden ladies. Once again, a good premise that was poorly executed.
