About Us

We are girls. We have a book club. Some of us are really bad at it.

Welcome to our blog.

  1. I am Natalia. I am a bad girl. We have this book club. Some of us are really bad at it. I'm pretty good at it.

Also, I am the only person in this book club that is not member of the James family. That makes me special.

I love to read. My favorite kind of book to read is a memoir. However, my favorite book is The Little Prince (not a memoir, I know). My favorite places to read include airplanes, automobiles, and parks but mostly I love to read in my bed. I am not so much a fan of reading at the beach or pool. I prefer to be in the water. The first book I ever read in its entirety was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.

    I like:
    Laughing
    Perfume
    Yogurtland
    Dance Parties
    Ann Taylor Loft
    Automatic Doors
    My Iphone
    Iphone Group Texts
4 Day Weekends (probably because I like to be on vaca those weekends)
    The East Coast
    Riding with my windows down
    Controlling the radio
    Lady Gaga
    Tourist Attractions
Going fast (like in cars or on bikes)
    Sandwiches
    Pepsi
Writing the sappiest notes in cards (like birthday or Christmas)
    My Birthday
    Beaches!!!
    and many more....

  2. I am Alli. I am not as good at the book club as Nat, and I probably never will be, but I am OK with that. I am proud to be one of those who knew that our very first book club book was written as a series of letters.

I will live in infamy as the one who was pregnant during the summer that the book club really took off. I had a lot of break downs.

Now I have the cutest (OK, only, but he would be the cutest regardless) baby in the book club. I spend most of my reading time on his favorites which currently include "Where's Spot", "Tails", and "The Birthday Monsters". Please not that I have read each of these approximately 3759 times.

My current goal is to teach him to read (OK, look at books) independently so that we can "read" side by side.

I am glad we are doing this :)

  3. I am Emily. Let me just start off by saying that the order of these "About Me" comments are perfectly representative of how well each person does when it comes to the book club and completing the books. Teena, the fourth and final member, will probably never post an "about me". What's her biggest book club-related accomplishment? She just finished our July 2010 book! It was the first book club book she has ever completed.

I love to read. It's one of my favorite things to do. It's right up there with soaking up the sun, hot yoga, eating waffles and mint chip ice cream, playing with my favorite (and only) nephew -the aforementioned cute one, traveling, finding good deals, wearing party dresses, having a clean room/house, watching baseball games, and celebrating the Fourth of July. But when it comes to book club books, I am always scrambling to get them done.

CONFESSION: I never finished our first book club book. Although I have it on one of my many bookshelves and am determined to finish it, I probably never will.

    Things you should know:

    (1) This book club is comprised of myself (Emily), my sister (Alli), our mom (Teena - the one who will never post on here), and our good friend Natalia who spent the summer with us when this book club came into full swing.

    (2) If you thought it was creepy that Nat said, "I am a bad girl," you aren't alone in thinking that.

    (3) All of our books are purchased at either independent bookstores or Borders. Teena thinks places like Amazon.com are ruining reading by selling books online because you lose the experience of flipping through the pages in the store and really getting a feel for the book. She feels very strongly about this.
